| Arney's little cat. Trouble broke the "animal code of silence" (though he's still real selective about who he'll talk to) among humans because of the special relationship he shares with his human. While he and Arney can verbally communicate, Trouble can't fight millions of years of evolution and is quite set in his cat ways. | |

When Arney and his mom first moved in with Gramps, he was nervous about how the new living arrangements would alter his lifestyle abd effect his relationship with his daughter and grandson. Those fears have since been put to rest and Gramps is grateful for every moment he has with his family. | Ma | |
| Arney's mother, Gramps' daughter. After divorcing Arney's father, mom had to find a way to solely provide for her son and his future. The best way to do that was to try to move up the ranks where she worked. impressed by her enthusiasm and abilities, Ma's bosses offered her a promotion and raise. The only problem would be the longer hours and frequent travel that went with the new position. The solution was came by way of her dad, not only did he volunteer to look after Arney when she was traveling, but he invited them to come live with them. Thinking Arney would benefit from his grandfather's strong male presence, she accepted the offer. She also figured it couldn't hurt be able to keep an eye on dad too! | |

| Gramps' Dog. To ease his grandson's transition and thinking it would be a bonding experience for them, Gramps bought Arney a dog and surprised him with it when he first moved in. Well, Arney what Gramps wasn't thinking about was that Arney already had a pet (Trouble the cat), a jealous one at that. Since Arney liked him, Ma "didn't hate him" and having a dog around would keep the cat honest, Gramps decided to keep Fido around. Fido and Trouble became friends and refused to let the usual cat-dog rivalry create problems (although it does come up in conversation.) Trouble convinced Fido to also break the "animal code of silence" around Arney and his friends. Fido, Trouble and Arney felt it was best not to let Gramps in on their secret.. they didn't know if his old school ways would allow him to accpet the situation. The jury is still out on that. | |
